Why We Do What We Do

Our mission is to create healthy communities and healthy businesses to benefit generations.

Clear water indicates calm seas and clarity.
Clear water indicates health.
Clear water is aspirational, because let’s be honest, the world isn’t always as it should be, or how we want it.

Founded in 2019 by tenured healthcare marketing professional and health advocate Tara Auclair, The Clearwater Project is a mission-focused, not function-focused, boutique agency that uses people’s stories to evolve a client further towards its goal, whether a healthier community or a healthier business.

What drives this passion? According to the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, an individual's life expectancy is determined by their zip code. In addition, social determinants of health have been shown to make a larger  impact on an individual's health outcomes, even more so than family history and access to heath services.

Everyone deserves the best chance for a healthy and happy life. But sometimes people need help to be heard, and need to be heard to be helped.

Social Determinants of Health

According to the Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, social determinants of health (SDOH) are “the conditions in the environments where people are born, live, learn, work, play, worship, and age that affect a wide range of health, functioning, and quality-of-life outcomes and risks.” Five primary domains encompass the social determinants of health:

  • Economic stability

  • Education access and quality

  • Health care access and quality

  • Neighborhood and the built environment

  • Social and community context

Every individual and organization has a unique story to tell. By not making assumptions, rather learning from their life experiences, we can create policies and infrastructure that can lift people and communities up and help them thrive to the betterment of all.
